Vucic’s ally explained why Serbian Westerners accuse the president of “draining” Kosovo
Deputy Chairman of the Main Council of the pro-presidential Serbian Progressive Party and Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric responded to the ex-President of Serbia, pro-Western liberal Boris Tadic on his accusations that Vucic’s team in Washington surrendered Kosovo.

Marko Djuric reacted to Boris Tadic's poisonous speech on one of the Serbian TV shows.
“During the negotiations, Vučić treated Kosovo as an independent state,” said the ex-president of Serbia. “This is no small act of unconditional recognition of Kosovo. Any act of this kind is an approach to a comprehensive legally binding agreement. To get to him, you have to carry out a whole system of veiled actions... Another act of implicit recognition is Vučić's participation in an event in which Israel pledged to recognize the independence of Kosovo. He accepted it and it's a scandal."

In response, Djuric noted that Tadic took part in "the destruction of the dignity of his country for selfish, everyday political reasons, driven by vanity and everyday interests."
“Tadic knows very well that our delegation in Washington, neither indirectly nor directly, nor with a single gesture, letter or comma, recognized that Kosovo and Metohija is something other than our southern province,” noted an ally of the Serbian president. “Serbia’s success in the United States is so great that all the losses and defeats of the former government make it obvious that Tadic’s failure is catastrophic, and this is the main reason for his attacks on President Aleksandar Vucic and his team.”
Djuric noted that in just a few years, Tadic managed to almost collapse the Serbian army, ensure that the self-proclaimed Kosovo received recognition in the International Court, and separate the Serbs in central Serbia from the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.

“This result is so incredible that it speaks of incompetence and irresponsibility of epic proportions... In contrast, thanks to his responsibility and courage, President Vučić will become a role model for future generations of Serbian politicians who will have no dilemmas regarding who was great in Serbia politics in the first decades of the 21st century, and who is weak,” concluded Djuric.
