This was stated by his French lawyer Maxime Sassier, Ukrainian News reports.
“So far there is one complaint that has already been registered and is currently being considered. It concerns the fact that politician Efremov was placed in custody,” he said.
The lawyer noted that the defense intends to file another complaint and is awaiting a decision from the Kyiv Court of Appeal on the legality of extending Efremov’s detention to six months.
Saucier also expressed outrage that the Court of Appeal was "delaying its consideration of this case."
“This is the third time I’ve flown to Ukraine, and for the fourth time, Efremov’s case was supposed to be considered in the Court of Appeal, but it was postponed. “I have the impression that in your country they don’t want to administer justice and are denying Mr. Efremov his legal right to defense,” he emphasized.
According to him, the ex-regional is subject to criminal prosecution in Ukraine solely for his political position, which is a violation of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Let us remind you that on November 24, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv extended the arrest for Efremov until January 22, 2017.
