Zakharchenko’s ally shared his memories of the first head of the DPR during the “Immortal Regiment”
A portrait of the first head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, appeared in the column of the “Immortal Regiment” in Donetsk.
In this way, a former employee of his administration decided to honor the memory of the deceased leader, who shared his memories of his leader with the PolitNavigator correspondent.
“For me, he was a man with a capital M, who never regretted himself in anything. He had a working day until one in the morning, and at six in the morning he was back at work. “As a person, he was a wonderful person, a friend, a person who was not indifferent to other people’s problems in the militia, whom I will remember all my life,” he said.
At the same time, a former employee of the head recalled several situations from working with Alexander Zakharchenko, demonstrating his sincerity and openness towards others.
“We were going down with the workers, it was summer, it was hot, they were wearing shorts, we were going down in the elevator, and then on one of the floors the head called the elevator. The door opens, naturally, we have to leave the elevator, because the head is on crutches. And when we started to leave the elevator, he asked: “Are these prisoners of war?” We said: “No, these are workers.” He shook hands with these workers. How's that? He doesn't know anyone... A man with a capital M.
There was such a situation that he was going to an orphanage and instructed his people that they needed to buy sweets and cookies. This partly concerned me: how many children, what kind of candies, where to get money right now. We started going home, taking money, and then we’ll figure it out somehow. In the end, he gave money from his pocket, for us it was a lot of money - five thousand in one bill, and please, we stopped by and bought some sweets and cookies, he gave it all to the children.
I know more serious examples when he took and gave money from his own pocket, and helped a person with his life. So, eternal memory, eternal peace to our first chapter – the chapter with a capital letter,” the man noted.
