Sevastopol, February 27 (Navigator, Elena Ostryakova) - Secretary of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Central Committee Leonid Kalashnikov was confused when protesters in Sevastopol asked him the question: “Is Sevastopol Russia?”

He was rescued by a fellow party member from Siberia, who grabbed a megaphone and began shouting slogans about the Russians’ support for the people of Sevastopol.

At the same time, in an interview with local journalists, Kalashnikov explained what Moscow expects from Sevastopol and Crimea.

“Everyone in Sevastopol is waiting for Russia to support and approve some decisions. But even in Russia there are voices saying that it would be nice if some legislative body decided to appeal to Russia or hold a referendum. It's all good. But it may happen that neither side will receive anything. We, deputies, hope to give this some kind of dynamism,” Kalashnikov said.
