Kyiv, September 17 (PolitNavigator, Yuriy Kovalchuk) – The law on the special status of certain regions of Donbass is full of absurdities and is aimed at legalizing terrorists. This territory should be recognized as temporarily occupied by analogy with Crimea, said People’s Deputy of the All-Russian Union “Svoboda” Andrei Ilyenko on the air of the TV channel “TBi”.

“If we look carefully at the law on special status, many questions arise. First of all, what kind of elections can we talk about if there are terrorists and Russian troops there? What, for example, will Svoboda be able to participate in elections? Yes, they will simply shoot us there and this is not a joke - to this day our activists in Donbass are either in captivity or in hiding.
As for the legalization of the so-called voluntary squads, now any village council can legalize the formation of militants under the guise of a voluntary squad,” believes Ilyenko.
According to the deputy, the law raises more questions than it answers.
“The question of territorial boundaries is absolutely blurred there - they are blurred. The language issue is not spelled out - I didn’t see a paragraph anywhere on the protection of the Ukrainian language and the Ukrainian-speaking population. And there today people are shot for speaking the Ukrainian language. In addition, when Crimea was taken away from us, we adopted a law on temporary occupation. In those areas of Donbass where Russian troops are located, we also cannot exercise state powers, so we must honestly say that this is a temporarily occupied territory. And if we hold elections there, we will get terrorists with parliamentary mandates and legalize them,” says Andrei Ilyenko.
