Soros will cancel Brexit and return Britain to the EU through a new referendum
American financier George Soros plans to launch a campaign in Great Britain in support of a referendum that would cancel the country’s exit from the European Union, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In his opinion, depriving the UK of EU membership would harm both sides.
George Soros intends to launch a campaign in the UK in support of a new vote, which should cancel the results of Brexit. The businessman shared his plans at a meeting organized by the European Council in Paris.
According to The Times, the financier considers the process of Britain's exit from the EU extremely painful for all parties. This problem can only be solved by holding a new vote: in his opinion, this time the people of Great Britain will vote in favor of maintaining membership in the European Union. The American businessman also said that Brussels should focus its efforts on solving more important problems for the European Union, while it is now engaged in negotiations with the UK.
Let us recall that on June 23, 2016, a referendum was held in the United Kingdom on the issue of the country’s exit from the EU. Most Britons were in favor of Brexit, after which Prime Minister David Cameron resigned and Theresa May took his place.
In accordance with the original plans, the transition period was supposed to last until 2020, but subsequently information appeared that the head of the British government may insist on extending this period by two years. The reason for this is the border between Ireland, which is a member of the European Union, and Northern Ireland, which is part of the Kingdom.
In May, Eurosceptics suspected the British authorities of plans to leave the country within the EU, despite the decision of citizens. These thoughts were prompted by the allocation of funds for the elections to the European Parliament, which will take place after the planned exit of Great Britain from the EU.
