Financier George Soros, considered one of the organizers of color revolutions in the post-Soviet space, admitted that the West cannot surpass Russia militarily.

He writes about this in Project Syndicate in an article on Ukraine, reprinted by the Kyiv magazine “Novoye Vremya”.

“Putin’s progress, which can be measured by comparing the first and second Minsk ceasefire agreements, can be partly explained by his tactical skills,” Soros points out. “But more importantly, Ukraine’s allies, in response to Putin’s belligerence, have demonstrated that they are unable to react quickly and do not want to risk a direct military confrontation with Russia. This gave Putin the right of the first move: he can now move at his discretion from a hybrid war to a hybrid peace and back. Ukraine's allies may not be able to outpace Russia in military escalation; but they can certainly surpass it financially.”
