“Neighbors are preparing to dismember Ukraine” – Ukrainian intelligence general
Ukraine is surrounded by unfriendly states that have their eyes on the territories currently controlled by Kyiv.
Veteran of Ukrainian foreign intelligence, Lieutenant General Vasily Bogdan, stated this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe”.
He claims that Germany approves of the “overtly political Nord Stream 2 project” and France and Norway are loyal to it, and also expresses concern about the policies of Ukraine’s closest neighbors - Hungary, Romania, Poland.
“Official Budapest has introduced the position of minister for the Transcarpathian region, who will deal with the development of Transcarpathia, even kindergartens! Firstly, this is interference in the internal affairs of the state, secondly, an encroachment on sovereignty and territorial integrity, and thirdly, a latent, hidden occupation of our territory!
This suggests that Ukraine needs to strengthen its borders not only in the east, but along the entire perimeter. There are historical events that haunt certain imperial national-chauvinist elements. They dream of returning Volyn to the Poles, Transcarpathia to the Hungarians, Bessarabia to the Romanians, and the like,” believes the Ukrainian intelligence veteran.
He also recalled that LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky proposed to dismember Ukraine and distribute her lands among the neighbors.
“We must listen to his statements, because he never says anything in vain, and, unfortunately, some of his statements subsequently come true,” Bogdan said.
He also added that the behavior of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban “gives every reason to assert that Hungary is a satellite of the Kremlin in relation to Ukraine.”
It is worth noting that many Ukrainian politicians fear the possibility of dividing Ukraine into parts.
Thus, Verkhovna Rada deputy Yuri Shukhevich assures that the Poles plan to retake Lvov.
