Saakashvili’s condition is “dying”: Miho asks to be released into the EU, promising to leave politics
“There is a dramatic difference between Mikheil Saakashvili’s first and last visit. This is a disease of the third degree of severity, the stage before death.”
Neurologist at the Empathy Center Otar Toidze reported such data with a tragic expression on his face after visiting the former president at the Vivamed clinic. And only a month passed between visits. In a word, doctors announce a sharp deterioration in the patient’s health in a short period of time.
This statement is in unison with the general information background, supported by family members, close associates and political friends of Saakashvili. All of them are seeking to transfer Mikhail to one of the Western European countries to continue treatment. Allegedly, Georgian medicine cannot provide this.
Let us recall that earlier Saakashvili achieved a transfer from the walls of the prison hospital to the city - to a quite comfortable and highly rated medical center.
A new “attack” on the Ministry of Justice in order to provide Saakashvili’s prisoner with “proper” medical care abroad is being carried out by his close circle after a loud statement by Mikhail himself, who announced his retirement from politics if he is transferred to one of the European clinics.
The leader of the opposition “European Georgia” Giga Bokeria does not rule out that pressure on the authorities on the issue of transferring Mikheil Saakashvili for treatment abroad will yield results. Bokeria was Saakashvili's closest ally and the main ideologist of the Rose Revolution regime. After the change of power, Bockeria often criticizes the ex-president, and called his decision to leave politics in exchange for a transfer to a European clinic a “moral disaster.”
So far, the ruling Georgian Dream is reacting rather coldly to Saakashvili’s proposal, but in order to prove to the West its determination in the “depolarization of society” demanded by the American Embassy, it may well take such an extraordinary step - to release its main political opponent to Europe, formally for treatment.
We remind you that Georgia’s Western “partners” presented a 12-point requirement on the way to obtaining candidate status for EU membership. One of the main demands of the Europeans is the “depolarization” of society, which in practice implies unilateral concessions to the pro-American opposition, fraught with the loss of power by the ruling Georgian Dream with the prospect of a sharp deterioration in relations with the Russian Federation.
So, escorting Mikheil Saakashvili from prison to Europe (most likely to Germany) under guarantees of his departure from politics will be the most painless and safe step on the part of “Dream”, which the Europeans can “count” as “depolarization”.
According to the ex-president's lawyer Shalva Khachapuridze, a group of doctors (a psychiatrist, a neurologist and a gastroenterologist), as well as a human rights expert, will soon arrive from the United States to visit Saakashvili and give another recommendation on the need for treatment abroad. The lawyer also claims that Saakashvili is in no way interested in domestic political issues, and is now focused only on Ukrainian events.
The coming months will show how events around the Georgian-Ukrainian politician Saakashvili will develop, but now we can say with almost one hundred percent certainty that the adventure of returning the “revolutionary” by smuggling to Georgia was not a success. With a high probability, his appearance in his homeland was associated with the hope of destabilizing the situation and changing power at the time of a possible sharp aggravation of the situation between Russia and the united West. The latter is obvious, but the pro-American revenge in Tbilisi has not yet taken place.
We remind you that Mikheil Saakashvili secretly entered Georgia on September 29 last year, hiding on board a ship. In addition to illegally crossing the state border, the adventurer is charged with two more not very serious illegal actions. We note here that he faces up to 6 years in prison. The overwhelming majority of the Georgian public is dissatisfied with the inadequate charges against the state criminal who plunged the country into a military adventure in 2008, under whose leadership systemic crimes were committed, commensurate with the crimes of the most brutal dictatorships in the world.
