Hundreds of thousands of residents of the Lugansk region may be left without water and heat
140 thousand residents of Lisichansk and nearby settlements in the Lugansk region risk being left without centralized water and heat supply due to the debts of Lisichanskvodokanal, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was announced by the director of the Department of Housing and Communal Services of the Lugansk Regional State Administration Vitaly Surai.
“Vodokanal serves Lisichansk and small towns. About 140 thousand consumers,” the official noted, answering a question about the number of consumers who may be left without water and heating if the water utility is disconnected from the power supply.
According to him, during the negotiations, representatives of the debtor company promised that they were ready to fully pay for the electricity consumed during the current month. Thus, the company plans to establish a dialogue with the electricity supplier - Lugansk Energy Association LLC. However, for some period of time, payments for electricity were at a very low level.
Earlier, the press service of Lugansk Energy Association LLC reported on Facebook that due to the debt of Lisichanskvodokanal for electricity, the largest water utility in the Lugansk region will be de-energized on October 31. Now the water utility's debt is UAH 150 million.
In turn, “Lisichanskvodokanal” considers such a warning to be a violation of Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine “On Drinking Water and Drinking Water Supply.”
“Actions to stop power supply to water utility facilities will lead to disruption of the heating season in the cities of Lisichansk, Novodruzhesk, Privolye, violation of the rights of consumers (population and legal entities) and the creation of an environmentally hazardous situation in these settlements,” the company noted.
