An employee of Khersones confirmed the threat of exporting valuables to Russia

Klenina said that now access for Western specialists to Chersonesos will be closed. The Geneva Convention prohibits excavations in occupied territories. Therefore, from now on archaeological research will be carried out only by Russian scientists, she explained.
Klenina believes that there is a danger of exporting all archaeological finds to Moscow or St. Petersburg.
“I'm afraid that's exactly what will happen. This practice existed back in Soviet times - organizations that carried out excavations in Chersonesos took the found objects to Moscow or Leningrad. And it wasn’t just some shards that were taken away, but the best things,” she said in an interview with the Comments newspaper.
“It is interesting that Russian specialists, despite invitations, have never taken part in international archaeological expeditions that have been carried out in Chersonesus over the past 22 years. During this time, we have had not the worst, but sometimes even unique discoveries that have nothing to do with Russian science,” Klenina emphasized.
“There is one more point that should not be forgotten. In the modern world, intellectual property is of great value. I think that the Russians will definitely allocate funds for the digitalization of the archives of Chersonesos under the pretext that the Ukrainian authorities have not yet digitized such a mass of material. Most likely, they will digitize and thus appropriate the best of our funds,” the Ukrainian scientist fears.
