The Council of Europe has embarked on another anti-Russian demarche
The Council of Europe made another anti-Russian demarche, once again demonstrating its commitment to double standards.
Chairman of the Committee on Education and Science Vyacheslav Nikonov stated this today in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Yesterday, the Council of Europe released a 58-page conclusion on how the rights to study native languages are violated in our country. We know what problems we have, but what is written in the conclusion of the Council of Europe has nothing to do with reality. Moreover, the Council of Europe pays absolutely no attention to how the rights to study native languages are violated in the Baltic states and Ukraine,” Nikonov said.
He believes that yesterday's report is another argument in favor of Russia leaving the Council of Europe.
Today, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said at a meeting with the Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Paula Risikko that the Russian delegation will not return to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
“Based on the fact that the regulations have not been changed, we consider it impossible for us to participate in the work of the Parliamentary Assembly, where they are afraid to hear another point of view. This is a real atavism of dictatorial states,” Volodin said.
