Soviet symbols in the Italian calendar caused hysterics of the editor of The Economist
The West is nostalgic for the USSR, laments Edward Lucas, editor of the international department of the British edition of The Economist, in an author’s column published by the Ukrainian Week magazine.

“Meanwhile, in the West, despite the fact that the evil empire no longer exists, nostalgia for the Soviet era reigns,” believes Lucas, who is considered one of the apologists of the new Cold War against Russia. – One of the latest examples is the Campari company, on whose calendar July is illustrated with a photograph with elements of the Soviet space program (attention was drawn to the incident on the Victims of Communism website (victims of communism. – ed.). However, totalitarian empires are not the best source of glamorous pictures. After all, these are graves for millions of people. The hammer and sickle should be no less disgusting than the swastika.”
The author was outraged by the 2015 calendar released by Gruppo Campari, an Italian manufacturer of alcoholic beverages. The face of the calendar was French actress Eva Green, posing in a red dress stylized as a spacesuit. Next to her on the table is a space helmet with the Cyrillic inscription “USSR”.
