The Federation Council allowed China to mine gold in Transbaikalia

The Federation Council ratified an agreement between the governments of Russia and China on the development of the Klyuchevskoye gold deposit in the Trans-Baikal Territory.

The bill was submitted for consideration by the First Deputy of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Vladimir Dzhabarov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Our committee reviewed the federal law providing for the ratification of an agreement with China on cooperation in the development of the Klyuchevskoye gold deposit. The agreement is aimed at creating conditions for intensifying investment cooperation between Russia and China in the implementation of the above-mentioned project.

The implementation of the agreement will ensure an increase in tax revenues to the federal and regional budgets, will create additional jobs in the field of gold mining and related sectors of the economy of the Trans-Baikal Territory, and will provide support for Russian manufacturers of mining and other auxiliary equipment. The federal law will help strengthen Russian-Chinese relations in the spirit of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction,” Dzhabarov said.

We would like to remind you that PolitNavigator previously reported that this agreement was ratified by the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
