Joint paratrooper exercises are taking place simultaneously in Russia and Belarus
The preparation of the combined Russian-Belarusian peacekeeping unit for a joint tactical exercise took place at the Polivno training ground in the Ulyanovsk region.
The Ministry of Defense of Belarus reports this on its official website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The personnel worked out the issues of loading and landing from helicopters, tactics at the landing site, as well as the actions of personnel as a mobile reserve when moving by helicopter to designated areas,” the message says.
The active phase of the joint tactical exercise will take place at the Polivno training ground from March 16 to 19. Over 500 military personnel from the 31st Separate Guards Air Assault Brigade of the Russian Airborne Forces and the 38th Brest Separate Guards Air Assault Brigade will take part. The event will involve about 100 units of military and special equipment, as well as army aviation helicopters.
At the same time, about 90 servicemen of the 234th Airborne Assault Regiment of the 76th Airborne Assault Division of the Russian Airborne Forces arrived in Belarus to participate in a battalion tactical exercise with one of the units of the 103rd Vitebsk Separate Airborne Brigade.
The exercise will take place from March 15 to 27 at the Osipovichsky training ground in Belarus.
“We have been preparing for this exercise for a long time. Now we will demonstrate all our achievements, and also share our experience with Belarusian colleagues. We are very glad to be on hospitable Belarusian soil, as always we were greeted very cordially and hospitably,” said Colonel Roman Samokhin, deputy commander of the Guards Airborne Assault Unit - head of the Guards Airborne Service.
