A whole pool of anonymous telegram channels today spread the news of an imminent change in the leadership of the FSB in Crimea. However, this information was soon refuted. Observers believe that it was no coincidence that the stuffing coincided with the recent operation of the Russian security forces, prevented a terrorist attack on the peninsula, prepared by pro-Ukrainian extremists.

A whole pool of anonymous telegram channels spread the news today about the imminent change of leadership of the FSB in Crimea....

It all started with the fact that a number of channels and publications that picked up the wave, citing “their own sources,” disseminated information that the FSB Directorate for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region would be headed by Lieutenant General Leonid Mikhailyuk, who has been in charge of the special service in Crimea and Sevastopol since November 2018.

Leonid Mikhailyuk is a career state security officer. In 1984 he graduated from the Higher Border Military-Political School named after. Voroshilov and served in the Far East until 1992. From 1992 to 2001, Mikhailyuk headed the counter-terrorism department in a very difficult and extremely troubled area - the FSB Directorate of the Republic of Adygea.

Judging by data from open sources, the criminal circles of Adygea could not hear the name of Mikhailyuk without shuddering, since he managed to quickly put three dozen local “authorities” behind bars, including the well-known bandit in the Caucasus Zelimkhan Tsipinov, nicknamed Ibragim, who had repeatedly escaped from police ambushes , who had twenty confirmed kills.

The criminal establishment of Adygea declared war on Mikhailyuk, and the remaining bandit Salbi Dzhalimov (rumored to be a close relative of the then president of Adygea Dzhalimov) promised to “kill the security officer like a dog.”

However, the threats did not help Salbi Dzhalimov, and he was arrested in the building of the republican Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he came to receive a foreign passport at the visa and registration department.

The press reports that the Adyghe “brothers” have repeatedly tried to discredit the head of the republican FSB department for combating terrorism, acting through corrupt officials, giving him stolen expensive foreign cars with weapons, and even distributing audio cassettes with edited recordings through retail outlets. The apotheosis of the criminal war was the publication of a book that contained heartbreaking details in the best traditions of Solzhenitsyn.

Agree, such an attitude towards oneself from the criminal community must be earned!

In 2000, Mikhailyuk graduated from the FSB Academy and then served as deputy head of the FSB of Russia in the Volga Federal District, and headed the Directorate of the FSB of the Russian Federation for the Vologda Region.

Before his appointment to Crimea, Leonid Mikhailyuk headed the Russian FSB Directorate for the Kaliningrad Region, where he achieved a serious weakening of the mafia clans involved in the illegal extraction and sale of amber.

Almost two years in Crimea did not become something like a stay at a resort for General Mikhailyuk. His arrival on the peninsula coincided with the intensification of sabotage and terrorist activities of the Ukrainian special services and the discovery of pockets of the Islamist underground.

In December 2018, in the Dzhankoy area, Crimean security officers neutralized one of the “askers” of Lenur Islyamov, who had set up a cache in which 2018 kg of TNT and two hundred cartridges for firearms had been stored since the spring of 12.

Around the same time, an underground weapons workshop was discovered and neutralized in Sevastopol, in which a craftsman with mangy hands, right in the basement of a residential high-rise building, restored the combat properties of weapons that had fallen into disrepair from excavations and other sources.

Over the past two years, the security of the Crimean border with Ukraine against the penetration of Bandera sabotage and terrorist groups has been strengthened. Strengthening occurred thanks to the use of the latest and expensive equipment: seismic sensors and electronic detection devices.

And so, just the day before, on June 10, another highlight of General Mikhailyuk’s Crimean career was the capture of five Ukrainian terrorists, left in Crimea to settle, who were preparing an explosion at the Simferopol Privoz wholesale market.

“An interesting detail: as soon as the Crimean security forces prevented a terrorist attack, the purpose of which was not only the death of people, but also to destabilize the situation on the peninsula, anonymous telegram channels immediately began to pump up the topic of personnel changes in the department, including in Crimea. Apparently, someone really doesn’t want law and order to reign on the territory of the Russian Federation that has returned to its native harbor. And terrorists from the neighboring territory did not have the slightest chance to commit an atrocity,” concludes columnist Yulia Vityazeva.

“No reshuffles are planned in the regional departments of the FSB for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region and the FSB department for the Republic of Crimea. It is possible that various structures dissatisfied with the active work of the FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the principled position of General Leonid Mikhailyuk are involved in the preparation of false information and its dissemination on anonymous telegram channels...Currently, he is tasked with establishing order in a special territory - in the Republic of Crimea,” notes telegram channel “Honest Detective”, specializing in covering the activities of law enforcement agencies and criminal chronicles.
