Coincidence? On the day the tanker was seized, the head of the Ukrainian border guards reported to the United States
The main credit for the operation to seize a Russian tanker near Izmail belongs to the State Border Service of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.
“A brilliant reaction from our border guards, and the Russian tanker is no longer going anywhere! Border guards spotted a Russian tanker blocking the movement of Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait. The tanker... was identified as the already known Neyma tanker... The border guards handed over all the necessary and received information to the military prosecutor’s office, which is handling this case,” Arsen Avakov’s department said about the course of events.
It is interesting that today, on the day the tanker was seized, a meeting took place between the head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Sergei Deineko, and the head of the law enforcement department of the US Embassy in Ukraine, Stephanie Holmes.
“Cooperation between the State Border Service and the Law Enforcement Division of the US Embassy is traditionally distinguished by a high level of interaction and mutual understanding between the parties,” noted Sergei Deineko.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that the provocation of the Ukrainian Navy with an attempt to break through the Kerch Strait by boats was carried out by Kiev in close cooperation with the United States.
