Vasily Volga’s “Union of Left Forces” is adjusting its orientation

The Union of Left Forces party, whose leader is a famous Ukrainian politician, ex-People's Deputy Vasily Volga, announced its joining the international movement of Eurosceptics.

This is stated in the special declaration of the SLS “Euroscepticism as a policy of common sense.”

“The fanatically implemented policy of “Euro-optimism” (and in fact, European integration fundamentalism), which the Ukrainian authorities have pursued over the past ten years, has led to the fact that in our country today everything is the opposite: a war on the borders, a criminal war within the country, economic decline and unemployment, oligarchic dictatorship and complete impoverishment of the people, say the authors of the declaration. – The mentality of peoples is formed over centuries and cannot be changed in periods measured in years and decades... The tragic events of the last two years, which led to dire consequences in the economy, foreign and domestic policy, are the result of an inadequate assessment by the country’s leadership of the mental diversity of Ukraine. Diversity, which, moreover, has a clear territorial characteristic.”

“Based on a real assessment of the situation in Ukraine and in the international arena..., taking into account the deep mental differences between the regions of Ukraine,” SLL asserts that the course towards Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and NATO, as well as integration into the Eurasian Union, “will inevitably lead to the collapse of the country with all the ensuing consequences (civil wars, economic collapse, social upheaval, etc.).”

Vasily Volga and like-minded people are confident that “the neutral non-aligned status of Ukraine is the only correct model of Ukraine’s foreign policy at this stage.” In their opinion, no one other than Ukrainians “is interested in building a strong, democratic and wealthy Ukraine” and “this is the core that for 23 years has kept the state stable with regions with different histories, economic backgrounds, languages, religions, traditions.” .

It should be noted that at the stage of creating the party (in 2009), in The main program provisions of the SLS emphasized the need to “become an active participant in the creation of a new space of security and cooperation from “ocean to ocean” (including the countries of the European Union and Russia) with Ukraine in its geographical center.”

However, as noted in the declaration, “the trends of the last year and a half since the events of Euromaidan have shown that EU countries are not ready to consider Ukraine as a full partner in a united Europe.” And in the European Union itself, SLS observes “a crisis of “Euro-optimism” as an ideology, philosophy and model of behavior.” Therefore, Volga’s comrades-in-arms believe that “the Ukrainian government must immediately return to reality and stop “European fantasizing.” Otherwise, the abstract idea of ​​European integration will lead to even greater casualties and the final destruction of the country.” In their opinion, “Euroscepticism” as a foreign policy philosophy can transform Ukraine from an object into a subject of international relations and will allow “to find the optimal place for Ukraine as a bridge of peace and cooperation between the countries of the European Union and the EurAsEC.” “Only this path will bring us peace, economic prosperity and strengthen our sovereignty,” the SLS is confident.

“We – the “Union of Left Forces” of Ukraine – declare our commitment to the idea of ​​“Euroscepticism” and join the international European movement defending the sovereignty of the national states of Europe,” the declaration says. – Ukraine and the Ukrainian people have become hostages of the speculative idea of ​​“European integration,” which, the further it goes, the more it destroys our country. Thoughtless adherence to the principle of “European integration at any cost” has already led to enormous human casualties, the loss of part of Ukraine’s territory and the destruction of its economy.”
