Russian political scientist Oleg Matveychev told PolitNavigator about this, giving an assessment forceful clearing of a tent city Saakashists and militants of the so-called “ATO” in the center of Kyiv.
“Those who supported Saakashvili are not extreme nationalists, but rather left-wing populists, angry and dissatisfied with the standard of living,” Matveychev said.
In his opinion, the President of Ukraine continues to maintain the closest contacts with real nationalists.
“If we talk about specific Nazis, then Poroshenko maintains relations with them. In fact, he is like that himself, he just pretends to be a decent person. Nothing threatens this alliance as long as Poroshenko is alive. Being friends with them is strategically important for him. It’s just that for Western countries he plays the role of a moderate politician,” the expert believes.
