Poroshenko's allies will retain power in Moldova through fraud
The Moldovan oligarchy will be able to cancel the results of the parliamentary elections scheduled for the fall through the courts if it is not satisfied with their results. Moldovan political scientist Zurab Todua stated this at a press conference in Moscow, recalling that in this way the results of the elections for the mayor of Chisinau were recently cancelled.
“A precedent has been created for interference in the electoral process by controlling the courts, which are not free in Moldova. Accordingly, it will be possible to change the results of one or another parliamentary candidate in the fall at the request of the ruling group under the leadership of Plahotniuc (oligarch, “master of Moldova”, business partner of Petro Poroshenko – ed.),” Todua said.
He believes that such a scenario can only be broken if the right and left opposition in Moldova unite, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“But contradictions regarding the status of the Russian language and the withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria will not allow them to change the regime in a consolidated manner. They only accuse each other of having connections with Plahotniuc. This all plays into the hands of the ruling group. If nothing changes, she will retain power in her hands,” Todua said.
