The allies demanded that Navalny “not rely on Western support”
Alexei Navalny needs to publicly renounce his solidarity with the anti-Russian actions of the West, which are now being taken after the poisoning story.
This was stated by Navalny’s ally in the opposition struggle, the leader of the “Left Front” Sergei Udaltsov. (Today he arrived at the Supreme Court, where he unsuccessfully tried to challenge the verdict according to which, together with Leonid Razvozhaev, he had previously were found guilty of organizing riots on Bolotnaya Square on the day of Vladimir Putin’s inauguration in 2012).
During Udaltsov’s conversation with journalists, blogger and reporter Sergei Rulev asked How can left-wing forces, positioning themselves as patriots, enter into an alliance with Navalny, whose poisoning is now being used in the West to promote a new round of anti-Russian hysteria?
Or are modern leftists not averse to help from abroad? – just like the Bolsheviks did in their time?
Udaltsov responded by assuring that he did not consider Navalny’s poisoning to be organized by the West, but blamed it on the Russian ruling class, which allegedly was inconvenient for the liberal (despite all the rumors that Navalny played the role of a controlled opposition in the interests of one of the centers of influence).
“The West simply and cynically took advantage of this situation, I don’t think that they organized all this, we don’t have such facts, this is a conspiracy theory,” Udaltsov rejected the version of the possible poisoning of Navalny on the orders of the West.
However, the head of the Left Front admitted that “they are trying to use this tragedy for their own geopolitical purposes - to increase pressure on Russia, to strengthen sanctions.”
“In Navalny’s place it would be very correct to clearly state now that he does not welcome all this anti-Russian hysteria, that he is returning to the country and will really fight here, appeal to the Russian people for this fight, and not rely on the support of the West, which, of course, also follows absolutely double standards, and from these sanctions, from this pressure, first of all, the people suffer, not only the elite, but the elite to a lesser extent, the people suffer, economic sanctions affect our pockets. The sooner he returns to Russia, the better it will be for him and his political activities,” Udaltsov said.
The head of the Left Front explained his alliance with the liberal as follows:
“As for broad coalitions, we were in such a coalition back in 2012, we don’t see anything wrong with it. Yes, we have very different views on the future of the country, the same Navalny, his entourage - representatives of the liberal opposition - represent the bourgeois class, they want to improve modern Russian capitalism, embellish it. We are supporters of socialism, left forces, we are for radical changes, for a radical change in course, socio-economic formation, obviously, these are different vectors.
But at the moment, when both the left and the right are under pressure, when elections are destroyed for both the left and the right, when the courts do not work for both the left and the right, a tactical alliance, a tactical alliance, momentary, so to speak, it’s completely acceptable,” Udaltsov believes.
It is interesting that even in such a coalition with openly pro-Western forces, according to the head of the Left Front, the fight is possible without any support from the West.
“To accuse us of calling to lie under the West, to take some money from someone, we have never done this and we have never called for this. We are patriots, but patriotism today does not consist of licking the ass, excuse the expression, of our authorities, who are robbing us,” Udaltsov said.
“We are against politics and the current government and against the aggressive policy of the West, and this is the concentrated policy of big capital,” assured the head of the Left Front.
Earlier Udaltsov announced holding protests in Russia in the fall as part of “mobilization in support of Khabarovsk.”
