The creation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces is turning into a big failure
The Territorial Defense Forces being created in Ukraine are not recruiting experienced and motivated fighters, but everyone who is not too lazy.
The former head of the Special Operations Directorate of the General Staff, ex-Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine Sergei Krivonos said this on air on the Apostrophe TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Krivonos, the formation of troops that must go into battle on the ground in the event of an attack on Ukraine takes place according to the principle “we take those who have not been there yet.”
“More than twenty documents are still not ready, which should have been available at least by January 1st. Although, according to the plan, it should have been done two months before January 1, so that people could receive, learn, and work through certain documents locally. And now the process is for the sake of the process.
Just like the creation of the territorial defense forces that we now have. It's called who hasn't been there yet - let's grab everyone. If, in accordance with our bill, with our program, we stipulated that these were only volunteers who were vetted, motivated, trained, now everyone is being treated with the same brush. I communicate with regional and district military commissars, and I know how the task was assigned to them,” Krivonos said.
Previously similar assessment voiced by the founder of the Azov National Battalion Andrey Biletsky. According to him, Ukrainian territorial defense units in fact, they exist only on paper - Kyiv has never created numerous and effective units from them.
