"SP-2". The murmur of Europeans puts pressure on the United States
The United States realizes that the Russian energy strategy on the European continent is working successfully.
The director of the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Valery Garbuzov, said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Why are Americans so opposed to Russian gas pipelines? Because they understand that Putin’s energy strategy towards Europe is working – and they have been trying to counteract it for many years. To the point that they are not averse to arranging supplies of their expensive liquefied gas, although this is not particularly profitable for them. But you can’t think of anything to block Russia’s energy capabilities,” the expert told Moskovsky Komsomolets.
At the same time, he is confident that Europe will not reject the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, despite US sanctions threats.
“In the whole story with sanctions, I expect that the murmur of the Europeans should crush the Americans. Do not know how. Here I recall the history of the 1970s, when the USSR built the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod pipeline to the West. There, too, American sanctions were introduced against Europeans and allies. But the Soviet Union did not sit idly by, but worked among these European allies of the United States. And the issue was resolved, and the project was implemented. The whole story with the energy strategy has its roots there. Of course, it takes time. Not everything happens as quickly as we would like,” Garbuzov concluded.
