“On the eve of the first round, he [Volker] also praised Poroshenko’s managerial talent, but in the end his favorite scored less than 16%. Moreover, in this case, Volcker expresses his opinion, and not the position of the State Department. There are persistent rumors in Kyiv that the US special envoy will leave his department if he loses the support of Poroshenko, whose lobbyists pay his salary. It is also noteworthy that US President Donald Trump never spoke out in support of Poroshenko and did not meet with him on the eve of the elections,” the political scientist noted.
