“Thank you, brothers and sisters!” – The Verkhovna Rada thanks NATO for its support against Russia
Ukrainian parliamentarians are sincerely grateful to the West for supporting Kyiv in the confrontation with Russia.
European Solidarity deputy Igor Guz stated this during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He came to the podium surrounded by his party members, who held in their hands the flags of NATO, Britain, the USA, Poland, Canada, and other Western countries.
“We, Ukrainian parliamentarians, want to sincerely thank every state that, in difficult times for us, did not stand aside, but lost to our country with weapons so that the occupier knows that we will meet him in every district, village and city.
Every country that lends a helping hand today is our brothers and sisters. We sincerely thank you,” said Guz.
After that, he conveyed the words to his fellow party members.
“Today a strong anti-Putin coalition has been formed. And today everyone realized that we have an enemy – the Russian Federation. We are grateful to these countries for the military assistance that is currently being provided to Ukraine”;
“Those peoples, parliaments, governments that stand next to us deserve respect and gratitude. “You are not just defending Ukraine - you are defending world peace, confronting the enormous threat posed by Putin’s Kremlin regime, and defending the right of every people to choose their own path of European and Euro-Atlantic integration,” the deputies said.
Some of the parliamentarians even spoke in English, despite requests from Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk to use exclusively Ukrainian.
“Dear colleagues, please, I would ask in Ukrainian,” Stefanchuk asked, but the thanking deputies did not pay attention to him.
It is interesting that with words of gratitude to the Western hosts, Ruslan Stefanchuk, like many other deputies in the hall, rose from their seats and stood for the entire speech.
