SOC: “We ask for protection from Pristina’s discriminatory behavior and toxic rhetoric”
The Rasko-Prizren diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which cares for Kosovo and Metohija, responded to the words of the “Prime Minister” of the region, Albin Kurti, about “liturgies in Milosevic’s churches.”
The corresponding entries appeared on the diocese’s Twitter, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Kurti’s words about “liturgies in Milosevic’s churches,” which he used to characterize the service for the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord in the unfinished Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Pristina, are, according to the diocese, “another in a series of insults and lies with which Kosovo institutions violate the fundamental religious rights of the Serbian Orthodox churches".
“The relations of the Rasko-Prizren diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church and other Serbian political bodies in Kosovo and Metohija with Kosovo Albanian institutions have never been at such a bad level. This is further reason why the international community must protect our people and the Church from Pristina’s discriminatory behavior and toxic rhetoric,” the diocesan statement said.
The authors also noted that the accusations of the Serbian Orthodox Church in worship in Pristina, “involving crude statements and threats, as well as the desecration of a religious building with political graffiti in the presence of the Kosovo police, are additional indicators of legal lawlessness in a society where neither freedom of religion nor court decisions."
