Simferopol, January 29 (PolitNavigator, Evgeny Andreev) – The Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation, having received a letter from the general director of the ATR TV channel Elzara Islyamova, turned to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation with a request to consider it and inform the Council about the measures taken.

In the letter, Islyamova asks the Human Rights Council for assistance in resolving the situation around the ATR TV channel, where scandalous searches took place on Monday in connection with the death of Simferopol residents Valentina Korneva and Igor Postnoy in clashes on February 26.

“As follows from the attached appeal, as a result of search operations carried out by employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia with the involvement of riot police officers, the company’s technological process was disrupted. The applicant associates these actions with pressure from government bodies of the Republic of Crimea,” notes the head of the Human Rights Council, Mikhail Fedotov, in his address to the Prosecutor General.

The HRC’s appeal to Yuri Chaika is motivated by the fact that ATR is the only TV channel broadcasting in the Crimean Tatar language.
