The HRC will create a commission to investigate war crimes in Ukraine
The Human Rights Council in the Russian Federation (HRC) will create a commission to investigate war crimes in Ukraine, the DPR and the LPR. After the ceasefire, members of the HRC will go to the battlefields, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The head of the Human Rights Council, Valery Fadeev, told Kommersant about this, commenting on the demand of the council members to “stop military actions on the territory of Ukraine as soon as possible.” This statement by a third of the council members was published on Sunday, March 6, amid uncoordinated protests against the special operation in Ukraine.
“The majority of members of the presidium and members of the HRC do not agree with the call to stop hostilities; it repeats the position of NATO and the Kyiv regime: this is not a human rights issue, but a political issue,” Fadeev emphasized. – I have already spoken about the inappropriateness of naive pacifism. We must understand the complexity of the geopolitical situation and listen carefully to the president, who explains in detail what is happening, explains the reasons why he made such a difficult decision.”
According to the head of the Human Rights Council, refusal to evacuate the population of Ukrainian cities along humanitarian corridors can be considered war crimes. The council will collect and study other facts of criminal activities of uncontrollable national battalions after the end of hostilities.
