The Serbian intelligence service is headed by Russophile Alexander Vulin
Former Serbian Interior Minister Alexander Vulin has been appointed head of the country's intelligence service, BIA, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The decision to appoint Alexander Vulin as head of the BIA (Safely informative agency – Agency for Security and Information Issues) was adopted on December 1 at a meeting of the Serbian government.
In the previous government of Serbia, Alexander Vulin headed the Ministry of Internal Affairs, previously was the Minister of Defense, as well as the Minister of Labor and Social Policy. When the new Serbian government was formed, his name was immediately mentioned as the future head of the intelligence service. In fact, a kind of rotation has taken place, since the previous head of the BIA, Bratislav Gasic, is now the Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia.
Alexander Vulin is considered one of the main Russophiles in the highest echelons of power in Serbia. For example, in October of this year, he said that friendship with Russia is of serious importance for Belgrade, and without it Serbia risks physically disappearing. He has repeatedly and publicly opposed Serbia's imposition of sanctions against Russia.
Как reported “PolitNavigator”, and in August 2022, Alexander Vulin paid a working visit to Moscow, which caused sharp displeasure in Brussels.
