State Duma Speaker: “The West has already paid a higher price than Russia”
The State Duma of the Russian Federation will convey its point of view regarding the foreign policy situation to the parliaments of NATO member countries, “inviting them to stop the rhetoric of sanctions and intimidation of Russia.”
Speaker of the Russian Parliament Vyacheslav Volodin said this today at the opening of the spring session, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“They say: we will hurt Russia, Moscow will pay a high price. First, they will hurt themselves. Secondly, they have already paid a high price. Please note: at first sanctions forced us to engage in import substitution, and now we hear complaints on what basis we are doing this. Today they counted who lost how much. They seemed to be at a great loss. It became obvious that this path was costly for their economies, and Russia, having overcome the challenges, became stronger,” Volodin said.
He believes that the politicians who imposed sanctions should leave the international arena.
“Let us, in our dialogue with national parliaments, take a position and clearly state: those who initiated sanctions, crossing out WTO requirements, introducing draconian measures that absolutely do not develop relations between states, must leave the political arena. The authors of these sanctions are known, so it would be right for our colleagues from foreign parliaments to evaluate such figures,” Volodin said.
