The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, believes that the holding of Eurovision is contrary to the legislation of Ukraine.

“You become hostage to your strange model. You adopted a law on the amount of airtime in Ukrainian. Now the competition is coming to your country, all participants will sing in English,” Zakharova said, answering a question from Ukrainian journalist Roman Tsymbalyuk.
She also suggested that Ukraine preserve at least one monument to Lenin as the founder of Ukrainization, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Your monuments to Lenin are now being demolished. But the funny thing is that it was he who advocated raising the status of the Ukrainian language. Read his treatises. Leave one monument to him as the founder of Ukrainization,” Zakharova said.
