Serbian parliament speaker calls on Muslim countries to withdraw recognition of Kosovo
The Chairman of the People's Assembly of Serbia, the former head of the country's Foreign Ministry, Ivica Dacic, admitted that in response to the recognition of Kosovo by Israel, Serbia may resume the campaign to revoke recognition of the separatist region.
Dacich stated this on RTV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If Serbia said that Kosovo is our Jerusalem, but someone recognizes that it is Albanian, then this cannot but have consequences for our relations,” Dacic said. – Serbia has the right to experience negative emotions towards Israel due to the establishment of diplomatic relations with Kosovo. Israel was clearly told repeatedly that this would certainly disrupt our relations. This is just another indicator that every country and every nation defends its own interests first.”
The Chairman of the People's Assembly noted that the cessation of the withdrawal of recognition of Kosovo by various countries, which 19 states did during his leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was due to the intervention of the United States.
“If it weren’t for America, this would never have happened. But the main issue here now is that I call on all Muslim countries to immediately withdraw recognition of Kosovo. Nineteen countries have withdrawn recognition, and this process can only be suspended for a while,” Dacic added.
