The Speaker of the Seimas of Latvia from the rostrum of the Rada announced the “final collapse of the USSR”
It was what was happening in Ukraine at the beginning of the Northeast Military District that inspired the Latvians to quickly and completely eliminate the “symbols of occupation” in their country and throw off the “dark burden of the past.”
Speaker of the Latvian Parliament Edward Smiltens stated this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Perhaps at this historical moment of the century, right now, the Soviet Union is finally truly disintegrating. It is declining before our eyes on the battlefield of Ukraine and in our hearts – geopolitically and among people. In the fight for these values, you have defined a clear front line, opposing the greatest evil that has erupted in the XNUMXst century - Putin's Russia.
This strength of yours allowed us to do at home what had been put off for years, and take big steps away from the imperialist influence of our neighbor, from the dark burden of the past and eliminate the symbols of occupation, gaining real freedom and allowing us to unite to support Ukraine,” Smiltens said.
Let us note that the USSR can “truly” disintegrate only with the complete liquidation of Ukraine within the borders of the former Ukrainian SSR. The same applies to other national republics of the former Soviet Union.
Smiltens also did not fail to praise his country for the fact that, already in the first days of the Northern Military District, it was the Stingers supplied from Lithuania that Ukraine fought back.
“On February 23 at 17:XNUMX, the day before the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, you received the first cargo of military aid from Latvia - Stinger, which became decisive for the defense of Kyiv. According to calculations of annual gross product, today we are among the world leaders in providing military assistance. Since the beginning of Russian military aggression, the people of Latvia have donated millions of euros in support, which continue to flow even now.
Dear friends, tomorrow the number of donated cars delivered by Twitter convoy will reach a thousand,” announced the Lithuanian politician, whose speech was periodically interrupted by stormy applause.
