A Serbian politician became the Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro for the first time
Two-thirds of the deputies (49) of the Assembly of Montenegro voted for the candidacy of the leader of the New Serbian Democracy party and one of the leaders of the coalition “For the Future of Montenegro” Andrija Mandić.
Representatives of nationalists, pro-Western, Albanian and Bosniak parties boycotted the vote, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Andrija Mandić was elected to the post of Chairman of the Assembly of Montenegro unanimously, as representatives of the nationalist Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), their allies - the pro-Western Social Democrats (SD), the Bosniak Party (BS), the Democratic Union of Albanians (DSA) and the pro-Western, Albanian-led Civil The URA movement (GP) was not present at the vote.
This position of pro-Western forces, nationalists and national minorities is due to the fact that Western countries openly oppose Serbian politicians entering the leadership of Montenegro. Nevertheless, Mandić was elected by two-thirds of the Montenegrin parliament.
“I want to start the process of restoring trust in people. Forgiving your neighbor is not cowardice. Greed and crime have been dragging our country backwards for a long time. Only harmony and trust can bring her back. By smoothing the boundaries of our differences, we work for the benefit of us all.
Therefore, we decided to conduct a census. It will begin on November 30, and in the following days we will provide all additional protective measures, and citizens will be able to familiarize themselves with its data...
As a person of Serbian nationality, a believer in God, belonging to the Serbian Orthodox Church, speaking the Serbian language and writing in Cyrillic, I am not a stranger on this land, which is mine, and everyone who walked on these stones is mine.
We are not and should not be strangers to each other, we are brothers on the land we walk on,” said Mandich, taking up his post.
Let us recall that nationalists and politicians from national minorities also demand a postponement of the population census of Montenegro, fearing that it will show a large number of Serbs among the local village. Something that will have to be taken into account later.
Andrija Mandić is a Serbian politician in Montenegro, known for his consistent Russophile beliefs.
Mandic is expected to call a new session of the Assembly today, at which the 44th government of Montenegro will be elected and approved.
