"Spleen" declared solidarity with traitors to Russia
Musician Alexander Vasilyev, lead singer of the group “Splin,” publicly supported his creative colleagues who fled Russia and opposed the special operation in Ukraine. A corresponding demarche was staged at the Chernozem festival in Voronezh, where Vasiliev announced from the stage that he was dedicating the song “No Exit” to liberal-minded musicians who had fled abroad.
“Time Machine”, “Aquarium”, “Tequila Jazz” and all the others who had to leave the country for various reasons, but we hope that brighter days will come when everyone returns and we play here for you in Voronezh, because “We have no other choice,” Vasiliev said from the stage, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is something comical in this - dedicating the song “No Exit” to those who were the first to find this way out,” journalist Marina Akhmedova says ironically.
But the public didn’t understand the humor. Voronezh blogger Valeria Robustova said that after Vasiliev’s words in support of the liberals, many spectators left the festival:
“What Spleen did on Chernozem is disrespect. To the country, to the audience, to the organizers, in the end. We turned around and left. Like many others. I don't know how to write. It's just disgusting. Now splitting society like this is not just a betrayal. This is explosive poisonous meanness.”
Military correspondent Dmitry Steshin invites Vasiliev to come to Donbass.
“The rock club fools at one time put a lot of effort into the collapse of the USSR, 30 years have passed, nothing has changed. There is no rock club, but the fools remain, fighting for peace. “I found the time!” (c) “Operation Y.” Group "Spleen", the song is dedicated to all fluent and conscientious mouth singers. Sasha, do you want to come to Donbass and sing? And why?" – Steshin wrote on his blog.
Political scientist Marat Bashirov notes that Vasiliev’s act will remain incomprehensible to the older generation, who listened to “Spleen” until recently. But young people are no longer interested in such music - they have new idols.
“The Russian rock movement of the 80s and 90s is dying. As a result, its participants fit perfectly into the commercialization of the industry; they liked the sweeps across the country, rotations on radio stations, and advertising revenues. But today they lost the nerve of time. Then, in the 80s and part of the 90s, rock idols were the rulers of our souls, our thoughts, but now, alas, we believe in emotions, but not in the meanings they carry. “Spleen”, “Machine...”, DDT, etc. – we still listen to you, but we don’t listen to you. And among young people, any of your “opposition” is forgotten in five seconds: for them you are grandfathers with whom they don’t want anything. Nothing at all, but the most important thing is to even talk,” says Bashirov.
Users of social networks note that Splin has a concert scheduled for August 26th in Moscow and are calling for its cancellation.
