“Total cacophony” – Yalta authorities will call street musicians to order

Yalta authorities have threatened to confiscate amplifiers and speakers to street musicians working on the embankment without approval from the city’s cultural department.

The cacophony of performers shouting over each other irritates and outrages tourists, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I warn everyone who illegally stands on the Yalta embankment: we will confiscate musical equipment,” said the head of the Yalta administration, Yanina Pavlenko. – I understand the desire to earn money, I understand everyone’s desire to perform in Yalta. Yalta is a cultural capital, but what the Yalta embankment has been turned into by street musicians who stand 5-10 meters apart from each other and shout over each other, it causes extreme inconvenience, and in general looks absolutely incorrect.”

In the evenings, the embankment will be inspected by duty groups consisting of employees of the department of culture, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and municipal control. By decision of the administration, 11 locations were identified for street performers so that they do not interfere with each other. To secure a place, artists need to contact the administration.

“It’s extremely unpleasant for me that the most popular artists - our trumpeter Viktor and Mukhtar, who are already a landmark of Yalta, the Sevastopol group “Kuraga”, which performs great - have no desire to apply to the Yalta administration for permission, although they are extremely popular,” Pavlenko emphasized . – I urge all musicians who want to present their talents to the people of Yalta and our guests: welcome to the department of culture. Believe me, we will find a legal way to realize all your talents, all your capabilities, there will be order.”

In general, according to the mayor, the holiday season in Yalta is going a little worse than planned. There are many vacationers in the city, but mainly these are private sector guests who came to Crimea in their own cars. While large hotels and complexes were missing tourists due to the cancellation of flights.

“There is an increase in the Krasnodar Territory - and a decrease in ours, because it’s hard to get there, and there are image risks,” concluded Pavlenko. “The season will go quite well, but I would like it to be better.”
