Dispute over Crimea: Minus 11 is not in favor of Ukraine
Every year, Ukraine in the UN is supported by fewer and fewer member countries, which was reflected in the recent vote on the Crimean resolution. This means that the world is growing tired of the Ukrainian crisis and the possibility of resolving it in favor of Kyiv is decreasing every year.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the Internet channel “Topinform”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“This resolution is a definite marker of the involvement of the international community in the Ukrainian situation. Four fewer countries voted for the Ukrainian resolution this year than last year and the year before. But at the same time, seven fewer countries voted against this resolution this year. More and more countries are not taking part in this vote...
Among those “against” and those who traditionally abstained, besides Russia, we will find countries such as Armenia, Belarus, China, and India. That is, to say that “today the whole world is with Ukraine, on the Ukrainian side,” it seems to me quite difficult.
We don’t even get half the votes from these 193 countries. This trend is getting stronger every year. It seems that the world is getting tired of the Ukrainian situation and more and more countries either do not vote or move to neutral countries, taking neither the Ukrainian nor the Russian position.
This fatigue from the Ukrainian crisis, fatigue from the Crimean issue, it will reduce Ukraine’s opportunity for a real dialogue on the return and reintegration of Crimea, to search for compromise models with Russia,” Bortnik said.
