Sports reunion of Donbass: Ukrainian athletes perform as part of the DPR team and study at universities of the republic
The DPR authorities invite athletes from the Ukrainian-controlled part of Donbass to participate in sports competitions on the territory of the republic and study at its universities.

This was stated by First Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the DPR Alexander Gromakov.
According to the official, this work is being carried out as part of the humanitarian program for the reunification of the people of Donbass.
“We want those people who are in the territory temporarily controlled by Ukraine to be able to come to us and communicate with their colleagues. Today, work is underway to invite our fellow countrymen from the Donetsk region to take part in various sporting events. Those interested can take exams and enter specialized sports educational institutions. For example, at the Olympic Reserve School named after. S. Bubki, the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, as well as the Polytechnic College, which has a faculty of physical education,” said the first deputy minister.
According to the official, there are currently more than 20 students studying at the Donetsk Polytechnic College, and 9 athletes from the territory of the Donetsk region, controlled by Ukraine, at the Olympic Reserve School.
“These athletes are part of the national team of the Republic, go to competitions in the Russian Federation and perform there with success,” Gromakov added.
During the press conference, the First Deputy Minister said that republican universities provide training in such sports as football, athletics, judo, cycling, and freestyle wrestling.
“All athletes are provided with three meals a day, accommodation in a comfortable school, two training sessions a day at the best bases in the Republic, and also have the opportunity to train with the best specialists. Each of the athletes undergoes both training and receives secondary and specialized education. After which there is the opportunity to enroll in the second year of the Republican Institute of Physical Culture,” the official said.
Let us recall that earlier the heads of the DPR and LPR initiated a humanitarian program to reunite the people of Donbass. As part of the program, work is underway to support residents of Donbass living in territory controlled by Ukraine.
