Demand for foreign tours in Russia is falling, in Crimea it is growing
In April, 135 thousand Russians refused to holiday abroad; by autumn there will be tens of times more. 4 million citizens received a recommendation “not to travel” at work; the rest are hampered by the weak ruble and a shortage of charters in the regions. All this contributes to the influx of people to Crimea.

The decline in demand for European destinations this year is 40-50%, writes RBC. In total, the drop in outbound organized tourism, according to his data, will be about 25%. Tour operators have requested 50% fewer charters than before last summer season. In April alone (the beginning of the summer season), the number of international charter flights at the Moscow air hub decreased by more than 20%.
“The decline in the European direction is due to the political situation and the fact that some citizens are now prohibited from entering EU countries,” says Vorobiev, president of Natalie Tours. Of the 18 million potential tourists, about 4 million cannot travel abroad due to the recommendations of their superiors, estimated the head of the transport committee of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia Dmitry Gorin. “These are people who have been advised not to travel abroad, that is, military personnel, security personnel and members of their families,” he says.
But if the situation with outbound tourism is worsening, then with domestic tourism it is improving. Air carriers are trying to fill their volumes with transportation to Russian resorts - Sochi and Crimea. Almost all players on the market this year are undergoing a partial reorientation towards domestic directions.
