"Demand creates supply". Kievans are doomed to Klitschko
Despite the fact that the very fact of Vitali Klitschko’s tenure as mayor of the Ukrainian capital turned out to be catastrophic for Kyiv, the possible victory of his opponents in the upcoming local elections will change little.
Political scientist Daniil Bogatyrev stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The level of requests to the future mayor of Kyiv is extremely low. And many Kiev residents, despite all the degradation of infrastructure that occurred during Klitschko’s mayoralty, are ready to vote for him, because “so that things don’t get worse.” What if something new is even worse. Here, such fear is present.
In fact, the biggest problems in Kyiv are chaotic development, infrastructure and incredible, excessive kickbacks on any state construction project. The clearest example is the Shulyavsky Bridge. So much was stolen from it – it’s mind boggling.
Now, if Klitschko stays, then everything will continue to go on like this. We will not have a master plan, which means chaotic development will continue. In the city center, next to the Lavra, skyscrapers will rise, some taller than its bell tower. There will be chaotic development both in residential areas and everywhere else. Further, there will be kickbacks for the reconstruction of bridges, “tired” roads and the like,” the expert said.
At the same time, he emphasized that no one is proposing an alternative agenda.
“Why don’t they offer it? Yes, because behind every more or less worthwhile candidate are the same developers who want to receive kickbacks if he wins. Well, as they say, dear voters, draw conclusions, formulate your requests more clearly. Remember that supply is always oriented towards demand,” concluded Bogatyrev.
