17 years later, the murder of chansonnier Krug was solved in Russia
The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia published a video of an investigative experiment in the house of singer Mikhail Krug, who was killed in 2002, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Earlier it became known that the investigation had identified those involved in the singer’s murder. While working to identify those involved in the crime, members of the Tver Wolves gang, which was operating at that time in the city of Tver and the Tver region, came to the attention of law enforcement agencies. A member of the said gang, Alexander Ageev, who completely denied his guilt, was also tested for involvement in the murder of Mikhail Krug. At that time, no direct evidence indicating that Ageev had committed this crime was obtained. However, in 2019, as part of the activities carried out by investigators of the Investigative Committee to solve crimes of past years, additional information was received about the circumstances of the murder of Mikhail Krug, and therefore the preliminary investigation in the case was resumed.
In order to verify the operational information received from correctional colonies located in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the Khabarovsk Territory, members of the Tver Wolves gang, Alexander Ageev and Alexander Osipov, sentenced to life imprisonment for committing a number of contract killings, were transferred to the Tver pre-trial detention center.
“During the investigative actions, Ageev indicated the motives for which they entered the victim’s house, explaining that the murder of the singer was not planned. Ageev said that, on the instructions of the criminal authority of the city of Tver, known in certain circles as “Lom,” who died in 2006, he, together with Veselov, was supposed to enter the home of Mikhail Krug, who, according to information available to the gang members, together with the family was not supposed to be at home that evening.
The accomplices only intended to steal antiques and valuables from there, and then leave the scene of the theft. According to the customer’s plan, Mikhail Krug, having discovered the theft of his property, will turn to him for help, he will “find” the stolen property, after which the singer will become obliged to him and will pay part of the royalties from concert activities. However, Mikhail Krug and his family unexpectedly returned and took the robbers by surprise. Veselov, without hesitation, decided to eliminate the obstacles that arose by using violence against Krug’s mother-in-law.
When Mikhail Krug suddenly appeared in the path of the attacker, Veselov shot him twice with a 2 mm TT pistol he had, and then shot the dog guarding the first floor hall. After this, Veselov and Ageev fled the crime scene. The singer’s death occurred in a hospital in the city of Tver as a result of gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen,” the message states.
According to investigators, Veselov was killed in March 2003 by another member of the Tver Wolves gang, Alexander Osipov, also currently serving a sentence of life imprisonment. The motive for Veselov’s murder was revenge for the murder of Mikhail Krug. Osipov told the investigation that he knew the singer and was a fan of his work and, having learned that Dmitry Veselov was guilty of the death of Krug, shot him in a forest in the Kimry district of the Tver region.
Mikhail Krug was shot dead in his own house in Tver on the night of July 1, 2002. According to law enforcement agencies, two masked men with firearms burst into the singer’s house. During the attack, he was wounded in the chest and died on the way to the hospital. In 2012, the body of the killer who killed Krug was found in Tver.
