Four years later, the vengeful hand of Maidan reached the Ukrainian judge
The Department of Special Investigations of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine has completed a pre-trial investigation into the case of the so-called “illegal activities of the chairman of one of the local courts of the Cherkasy region during the events in January 2014,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The department's press service reported this on its Facebook page.
“Based on the completeness of the collected sufficient and objective evidence, on November 23, 2018, the prosecutor made a procedural decision to complete the pre-trial investigation against the chairman of one of the local courts of the Cherkasy region for committing crimes under Part 2 of Art. 28, art. 340 (illegal obstruction of meetings, rallies, street processions and demonstrations, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons), Part 2 of Art. 375 (deliberately making unjust decisions made in other personal interests) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the message says.
A judge is charged with sentencing seven militants detained for rioting.
As of now, participants in criminal proceedings are familiarizing themselves with the materials of the pre-trial investigation.
“The pre-trial investigation is carried out in criminal proceedings on the facts of counteraction to protest actions through unlawful prosecution of participants in rallies and meetings in Cherkassy in January 2014 by law enforcement officers and the court. The provision of legal assessments to those involved in other episodes is also ongoing,” the statement says.
Let us remind you that the ex-chief of the Kyiv headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will also be tried for the events of 2014, when he fulfilled his official duty and tried to counteract the mass riots of nationalists.
