This was announced by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Justice - Commissioner for ECHR Affairs Ivan Leshchina, the press service of the department reports.
According to Leshchina, more than 3000 ECHR decisions in favor of citizens remained from the previous government.
“These decisions of the ECHR were made on the basis that the previous authorities, for 20 years, adopted populist laws that related to benefits for Chernobyl victims, Afghans and children of war, and the introduction of a moratorium on the execution of decisions of national courts by certain entities. This legislation was not supported by the financial capacity of the state,” he complained.
It is also reported that since 2014, the government has sent 414 declarations of settlement in cases to the ECHR. During this period, the ECHR decided to settle the dispute on 1236 applications in the amount of 1,4 million euros and 21 thousand hryvnia in compensation.
The official did not specify when to expect repayment of debts to Ukrainians under the decisions made by the ECHR in recent years.
