A championship in changing shoes into green slippers has begun among Ukrainian elites
The “change of shoes” of Ukrainian officials and regional barons is in full swing. “Everyone is looking for the right moment so that it is not too late to “change their shoes” into green slippers, otherwise they might not make it in time or end up in last place in the queue,” reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Kiev political expert Valery Pekar writes about this in his blog.
He notes, “in the near future we will all see the “change of shoes” of majoritarian deputies, and maybe even ministers. This is the so-called change in the old elites, which we love to talk about so much. Probably, when they talk about changing the old elites, they mean that the old elites will change colors. This happens year after year, everyone is clinging to straws, having repainted themselves, to stay in power.”
One of the first to clearly declare their new position were the so-called “Euro-optimists” in the Rada - people’s deputies Mustafa Nayem and Sergei Leshchenko. They publicly announced that they were leaving the BPP faction for the parliamentary ones and were ready to continue working with President Zelensky and his a political force that is not yet in the Rada. Vitaliy Kupriy, a defector from the BPP, also said that he headed the inter-factional association “For Zelensky” in parliament.
