US is afraid of being defeated in Belarus - Senator
The leaders of protest rallies in Belarus are extremely anti-Russian and are trying to promote this agenda to more or less moderate masses.

“Even if the bulk of the protesters do not have such an agenda, some forces and participants in this protest clearly have anti-Russian motives. And if we talk about the composition of the Coordination Council, then such an agenda is obvious: the council represents precisely the most Russophobic forces in Belarus, starting with the same Alexievich. And it becomes clear who exactly intends to use the protests in the country to come to power and subsequently break with Russia.

“Former US Ambassador to Moscow McFaul is perplexed: why does the United States not demonstrate “leadership” in the battle for Belarus? There are several reasons. First: the Trump administration has no time for this. Covid-19, BLM, street fighting in Seattle and Portland, plus the election campaign are more important priorities than protests in a distant country on the border with Russia.
Second: Belarus is a military ally of Russia and is part of the EAEU. It has strong pro-Russian sentiments. This is not Ukraine during the Maidan.
Third: the balance of forces in Minsk is different than it was in Kyiv in 2014. Rigid demonstrative support for the opposition (even though it is carried out in hidden forms) may not justify itself. Then, in addition to the defeat in Venezuela and Syria, the defeat of the United States in Belarus will be added. Trump doesn’t need this at all on the eve of the election.
Fourth: Russia’s influence on the situation is much greater than that of the United States. It is foolish to rush into battle with limited resources - it is better to leave the initiative to the European allies.
Fifth: the appearance of American senators, congressmen and diplomats on Independence Square, as was the case on the Kiev Maidan (McCain, Nuland, etc.) will only prove that the protest movement in Belarus is directed from the United States and is another “regime change” operation. This can discredit the protest. In addition, the experience of neighboring Ukraine, where the United States openly played the role of conductor of the Maidan, does not inspire Belarusians - with the exception of the forces represented in the coordination council, which are trying to implement the Ukrainian scenario,” the senator notes.
