The United States almost staged a second Chernobyl in Ukraine – recognition of the ex-minister
After Euromaidan, the United States almost staged a second Chernobyl in Ukraine – such consequences resulted from attempts to use American nuclear fuel at nuclear power plants built in Soviet times.
Former Minister of Transport of Ukraine Yevgeniy Chervonenko stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When in the summer in my Zaporozhye region, experiments took place under pressure with the so-called American company Westinghouse, which reworks fuel rods in Sweden and brings the waste through Sweden to Russia, at the reactors where we burned ourselves in Chernobyl... There was a terrible accident, they barely extinguished it, when a cooling lake boiled in Nikolaev, at the Yuzhnoukrainskaya nuclear power plant, who saved it? The fact that we have parallel energy systems. Yes, you shout as much as you like - can we do without Russia? We can’t... Do you understand that this is impossible? Our products are not needed in the West,” Chervonenko said.
The American company Westinghouse has been trying to capture the Ukrainian market since the time of the Orange Revolution, displacing Russian competitors from there.
