The United States is ready to recognize Crimea as Russian if Putin stops helping Donbass militias
Moscow - Kyiv, June 25 (Navigator, Mikhail Stamm) - The US and NATO approved Vladimir Putin’s request to the Federation Council to revoke permission to send troops to Ukraine. This will avoid the introduction of new sanctions against Russia, they say in Washington, but they do not yet intend to lift the old ones. America offers the Russian Federation a deal: to recognize the Russian status of Crimea in exchange for stopping assistance to the militias and the withdrawal of all military infrastructure from the borders of Ukraine.

“We evaluate this proposal positively,” EU representative in Russia Vygaudas Ušackas told Kommersant. “We hope that in the future Russia will take concrete steps to de-escalate and stabilize the situation in Ukraine, especially in support of Petro Poroshenko’s peace plan, and will promote the disarmament of informal armed groups and respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine.” Speaking about the possible easing of sanctions, Ušackas explained: the Kremlin’s initiative in the EU is perceived as “the first concrete step, which will be gradually followed by other concrete decisions.”
“We take into account Vladimir Putin’s decision and share President Poroshenko’s point of view that this can be regarded as Russia’s first step towards de-escalating the Ukrainian crisis,” NATO spokeswoman Oana Lungescu told Kommersant. “The Russian Federation must take a number of other steps. In particular, we expect her to withdraw troops and military infrastructure from the Ukrainian border, renounce support for armed separatists, block the channel for the transport of weapons and military equipment across the border, as well as publicly condemn the separatists in accordance with the Geneva agreements.” Kommersant’s interlocutors at NATO headquarters did not discuss the issue of sanctions, noting that it falls within the competence of individual countries, not the alliance.
