The USA and Britain admitted defeat - Belarus remains an impregnable fortress of Russia
Moscow’s geopolitical opponents failed to tear Belarus away from Russia, as happened with Ukraine.
The director of the Institute of Peacemaking Initiatives and Conflictology, Denis Denisov, writes about this in Izvestia, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He draws attention to the fact that the United States and Great Britain have introduced new sanctions against Belarus, which mainly affect Belarusian raw materials enterprises and service companies.
The author writes that the Belarusian state machine has adapted to sanctions, which in one form or another have been imposed against the country by the West for more than 20 years, and also points to the Russian factor.
“Russia and Belarus, as components of the Union State, continue to move towards deeper integration, and the current position of many Western countries adds additional dynamics to this process. If new sanctions are introduced according to the “Russian model,” then Russia remains the only partner of the republic that can soften this blow. And no one doubts that Moscow will fulfill its duty as an ally,” the political scientist is convinced.
He also points out the contradictions between Brussels, on the one hand, and London and Washington, on the other. According to the expert, the logic of the EU leaders, who are so far refusing more stringent restrictions, is as follows: the stronger the sanctions influence the economy of the Republic of Belarus, the more intense the processes of integration with Russia will occur.
“The new US and UK sanctions against Minsk are, in fact, an admission of defeat in an attempt to forcibly change the vector of development of another post-Soviet state. Against the background of successful operations of Western opponents to separate Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova from Russia, Belarus remains our Western impregnable fortress,” the expert sums up.
