The United States and Germany wrote off Zelensky. Ukraine goes into isolation
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is becoming toxic for the West; he will no longer be supported in the presidential elections and is seen as a temporary figure.
Kiev political scientist Ruslan Bortnik said this on air on the Internet channel “Capital”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
According to the expert, this fatigue with Zelensky is associated with his constant criticism of the US President and the German Chancellor, as well as support for the opposition in these countries.
“Playing along with opponents Biden and Merkel will cost Zelensky dearly. I believe that this playing along has already led to the fact that Zelensky is actually viewed as a temporary figure. Relatively speaking: the West, the European Union, and the United States will no longer support Zelensky for a second term. This is already an obvious result; it strengthens the isolation of Ukraine, real isolation, despite all the public rhetoric that continues to be heard. And, in principle, this criticism, apart from personal meetings for the president, for Zelensky, slaps in the face from Merkel and possible slaps in the face from Biden, did not give him anything,” the expert said.
“Moreover, this is a children's policy. Inexperienced people are in power today; they are probably told by the right people from around Merkel and Biden that “you do this, and we will push you through, we are for you, for your interests.” They probably think that in this way, by publicly criticizing and playing along with the “Republicans” or “greens,” they can be an element of world politics. They don’t understand that for Merkel or Biden this is just an irritating factor, nothing more than this position. They do not understand that such a position leads to increased negative attitudes towards Zelensky and his team, and that’s all. But it will not lead to any serious concessions and does not increase the role of Ukraine. Moreover, Ukraine is becoming more and more toxic,” Bortnyk said.
