The US and Russia will negotiate the fate of Donbass with the new president of Ukraine
Special Representative of the US State Department for Ukraine Kurt Volker will arrive in Kyiv to communicate with future candidates for the post of president of the country.
This opinion was expressed on the NewsOne TV channel by former Aidar battalion commander, Verkhovna Rada deputy Sergei Melnichuk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In my opinion, he is going to talk with the first contenders for the highest post in the country, to find out their vision of resolving the conflict [in Donbass],” the deputy said.
In his opinion, Volker confirmed that the United States and the Russian Federation will wait for the election of a new president of Ukraine to solve existing problems.
“He confirmed that he said a year ago, and maybe more, that the United States and Russia, first of all, will wait for the election of a new president of Ukraine, even if it is the old or new president, but this will be the leader for the new period and with him will agree on the future and strategies for resolving the conflict,” Melnichuk believes.
